Valentine Quilt Pattern: Introducing the Love Letters Quilt
There’s something about a handwritten letter that just hits differently. The anticipation of opening the envelope is so much better than checking an inbox. When I was designing my Love Letters quilt pattern, I wanted to capture that exact feeling—the sweetness of a hidden note and the warmth of sending something handmade. If you are looking for a heartfelt project, this Valentine quilt pattern is all about the joy of a hidden message and the cozy texture of a finished quilt.

With February coming up, I wanted to share my original version of this Valentine quilt pattern, and I’m so excited to show you how it turned out.
The Fabric: A Perfect Match
I knew from the start I wanted to use Love Notes by Lella Boutique (Moda Fabrics) for this. Vanessa’s designs always have this soft, romantic vibe without being “too much.” The dusty pinks and sage greens in this line made the envelope blocks feel vintage and timeless.

Some Thoughts on the Making Process
I’m a big fan of fat quarters (who isn’t?), so I made sure this pattern was FQ-friendly. I spent a few nights just chain-piecing the envelope blocks. It’s one of those projects where you can just put on a podcast and get into a really good rhythm.

Let’s Talk About the Quilting
I really wanted this quilt to feel special, so I sent it to Kelly Borns for custom quilting. She is a magician with a longarm.
Instead of a basic edge-to-edge design, Kelly did custom work that really follows the lines of the envelopes. It adds so much texture and makes the hearts look like they’re actually popping out of the blocks. It’s one of those quilts that you just want to run your hands over constantly.

The Finish
I ended it with a classic striped binding. In my opinion, you can’t go wrong with a stripe—it frames everything so perfectly. I sat on the couch for a few nights hand-sewing the binding down, which felt like the right way to finish a project that’s all about slow, thoughtful gestures.

Make Your Own Valentine Quilt Pattern
I truly loved making this quilt, and I hope you do too. Whether you’re making it for a kiddo’s bed or as a “Galentine” gift for a friend, it’s a fun one to put together. I honestly think every home needs a dedicated Valentine quilt pattern to pull out every February to make things feel a little more festive.
